Ashton is 5ive!

Five years ago, we were very blessed to go from a family of four to five. Ashton completed us.

We had Ashley and Audrey before Ashton. Raising a boy is a totally different experience for us. Not better or worse, just different. While the 2 girls are calm and compliant, Ashton is cheeky and loves to entertain. During dinners, he is always the one who makes funny faces, cracks jokes and imitate some funny TV characters and we always have great laugh with him around.

I allow every of my children to choose 3 dishes that he/she wants the Chef Daddy to cook for their birthday dinner at home. When asked what he wanted for his birthday dinner few weeks ago, he replied instantly.

"I want instant noodles cooked in chocolate and sprinkled with lots of fried shallots on top!"

What a weird combination you would think! But I fully understood why he requested these items. Other than the fried shallots, instant noodles and chocolate are "controlled" items at home which we prohibit the kids from eating due to obvious reasons, especially instant noodles. He was on cloud nine when I reluctantly agreed to his request. It was his birthday - I told myself.

No one influenced him and for reasons unknown to us, he suddenly changed his mind just few days before the dinner. This time, he requested for a real proper 3-course dinner menu:

Of course I happily obliged and prepared this menu last Saturday and the Mummy baked his favourite Mickey Mouse cupcakes.

We had a great evening.

Thank you for inviting me to the Little Thumbs up event, I did, but as I am not really used to competitions I managed to make the mistake of not adding the title of the dish, just my name lol!

  25. This is a great quote by Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, truly wine accentuates life. Thank you for including the links to the three course meal. The sous vide beef cheeks sounds especially appetizing. These are really well done photos as well. It is good that the original menu was changed to more of a proper meal.
