Cheers to you, Cheers to me... A Happy New Year’s Eve!

It was supposed to be the grand finale of 2011 and what a great evening we had at 2706 on the New Year's Eve with great food, wine, games and fireworks!

It was a family affair. Besides the food preparation for the dinner, we started the day getting the menu printed and the kids had fun preparing the New Year Cards for all the guests. Wife bought some white lilies for the dining room and ensured the place was warm and cozy for the year end party.

The menu... @2706

Getting ready and looking good...

New Year Card for everyone... from the kids

Cozy little corner... Wife's effort!

I started the food preparation 3 days before the dinner. 24 hours to brine the pork belly, 24 hours in the Sous Vide machine and another 24 hours in the fridge. The menu for the evening was posted here. The portion was just nice compared to last year's degustation menu (Might not be enough for Richie though.. LOL)

Preparation, cooking and assembly were all done on the same table top. Suddenly I wanted a much bigger kitchen! There was literally no space to lay out all the serving bowls and plates.

Dinner is served... and for those interested, I will be posting the recipes in my next posts.

63-degree Egg with truffle oil and Foie Gras Mousse
served on oven-baked baguette with orange/lime jam and pistachio

Pan Seared US Scallop served with mushroom in mirin-shoyu sauce

Peach and Coffee Glazed 24-hours Sous Vide Pork Belly served with greens, peach and collagen jelly

Individual Pear Tarte Tatin with Vanilla Ice Cream

Cheese Selection and nibbles platter

It was the much anticipated wine tasting game after the dinner while we continued with the nibbling. The game was fun and challenging. Kudos to HH for the research and effort in preparing the game. I am still waiting for him to mail me all the materials so that I can share it here.

Guess which was not a real wine decanter?

The wine...

I am ending this on a serious note... Time flies and each year this new year time, people make resolutions to change aspects of themselves they believe are negative. A majority of people revert back to how they were before and feel like failures. This year I challenge you to a new resolution. I challenge you to just be yourself and be contented.

Enjoy your life and spend more time with the kids before they grow up so very quickly. Enjoy your time with your parents before they grow old so very quickly. Do not forget that we all need friends even as we age so very quickly ourselves.

Hope you have enjoyed my food, wine, blog and company in 2011.

Cheers, 2012!
